Local Tournament !! Reporting in with the results

Hello Guild Ballers! I'm here to tell you about how I did in our local tournament.  My heart wasn't really into it for some reason.  As you may have noticed by my lack of posting on my blog here.  Still, I love Guild Ball!  And I'm sorry to keep you waiting (the few of you that come and read this ;-) ) Preparation: I got up early and drove up to the venue to arrive before opening time.  I started reading the paper and was let in moments later as the TO arrived with one of the shop owners. I helped a little to set up the tables and greeted old friends from other clubs untill the TO called out for match-ups for round 1: Game one ( my game 57) vs Christoph Moons : 0 - 12 Brewers vs Alchemists (Smoke) I fielded Tapper - Scum - Stave - Hooper - Mash - Stoker. For some reason I wanted to pull of a play with Mash and Stave pushing a model 8" of the board.  I got so drawn into this that I didn't pay attention to what was going on at all on the boa...

Tournament report New Years Brawl Ball

Image
Hello Guild Ballers! I attended the 'The New Years Brawl Ball ' (15th of january 2017).  How I did there is the subject of everything below.  The matchreports will probably not be as detailed as my other reports since lack of notes (playing on a timer and all that). But first things first.  The day prior to the tournament I put up my tournament 9  Want to read? click here!!   Today I'll bring the actual report, or what is left of it in my grey matter called 'brain'.  A small entry after that shall we? Prelude to the tournament:  06:00 in the morning.  My alarm goes off and I want to turn around to snooze.  I know I can't, so drag myself out of the comfort of the warm bed and into the shower where I wake up a little.  My bag is ready downstairs so making coffee is first on the to do list after putting on some clothes.  While the coffee machine is doing it's thing I go outside in the freezing cold (-2,5° C) to tend to my bird...

Tournament Report: Summer Slam; Games 18 - 19 - 20

Hello Guild Ballers! A bit late since the tournament was last Saturday already, but I've finally started writing up my report on the Summer Slam Tournament in Gent the 18th of June. I came in second after tiebreakers after having three wins as you'll read up. To find my line-up I used go read this bit of the blog here:  " picking my tournament 8" So here goes: Getting there: Although my wife knew I was going to play in a tournament that day she forgot about when I had to leave.  I had to unload some Ikea DIY furniture before I could leave.  This brought some extra stress into my day, and I was already nervous after coming in second on my first tournament.  I had to show my games weren't all just about lucky dice rolls. Anyway, I felt like having swallowed a brick and wanted to get rid of it more than once using the toilets for an attempt at number 2 without much succes.  After arriving it didn't take long before my friends at the club noticed I w...

My first tournament: Take a Breather Lad – 24/04/2016 – Antwerp Belgium.

Intro:   All of my preparation can be read on this blog on previous match reports.  Poorly brought, lacking notes as a main reason, but hopefully yet somewhat entertaining.  As this was a tournament there wasn’t any time to interrupt my thought-process with taking notes either so, expect more of the same.   The road there:   The event was scheduled to start at 11:00am.  In the centre of Antwerpen (Antwerp) City in Belgium.  Not a place known for its parking lots, matter of fact, inhabitants of the Antwerp city and surrounding area see their city as the only one in Belgium and consider all the rest of Belgium as a parking lot.  So why take the car there if you can’t park it properly…  I considered the motorbike, but the weather wasn’t promising and I didn’t want to start a tournament soaking wet.  The train was the only option left.  Knowing how punctual the Belgian railroad works I decided to take the train earl...
