What is Guild Ball?

Hello Guild Ballers, welcome to read on!

Some people come on here through a link I put up on social media, not knowing what Guild Ball is.
But the human nature is to be curious, so here you are looking at what I'm willing to share with you.

What is Guild Ball?

Guild Ball is a tabletop Football game in a medieval fantasy setting created by Steamforged.  The object is to gain Victory Points and race your opponent to be the first to earn 12 of them.  You can do this by scoring goals, as you would expect from a football game.  One goal earns you 4 victory points (VP in short).  What is more out of the ordinary is that you can score VP by 'killing' a player from the opposite team.  When you 'kill' an 'enemy' model it suffers the 'Taken Out' condition, earning you 2 VP.
What is unique about this talbe top game is that it uses no squares, hexagons or any other form of 'boxes' to move in.  You measure your distances in inches, much like you would in any other table top wargame, and unlike what you are used to (if you are used to such games) in other tabletop sportsgames.
Don't worry about your opponent killing of your team, you can bring back 'injured' players almost immediately (at a decreased amount of hitpoints) or later at full health, your choice!

What makes Guild Ball so good?

Everything doesn't really give you an explanation, but that would be my first answer.  For me it is the combination of all of the elements.  The rules are simple, yet with great depth.  The teams are balanced and all have a very unique feel in how they play.  The fluff (this is the story behind the guilds and characters that you field, the miniatures you play with!) is so enriching you might just find yourself doing something 'in character' with your players even though it was not the best play to make from a tactical 'I want to win' point of view. (Unless you're in a tournament I guess)
