Rookie League Match Report: Alchemists vs The Church
Hello Guild Ballers
Today, a
small match report from our Rookie League.
I’m still
playing Union (Church) with Rookie Fangtooth, he’s on 4 on his front and 1 on
the back with his bunny hopping cosplay build.
After having
a friendly match prior to this on the training fields coach Lisa wanted a match
for realsies.
She won the
initiative and fielded these players on the pitch:
Midas,
Flask, Rookie Venin, Mercury, Vitriol and o.Katalyst
Facing that
team for the church was:
V.Brisket,
Pride, Rookie Fangtooth, Harry ‘the hat’, v.Spigot, Mist
Turn 1
Mist kicked
the ball smack into an obstruction where Vitriol collected it and punted it on
her captain. Mist went in with the 2”
melee stealing the ball but failing to generate momentum booted the ball back
towards his team. It landed on the
middle line and Katalyst scooped it up to pass it back to his lines, it
scattered somewhat behind the line-up but in front of the goal line since the
big guy isn’t that skilled with the ball.
Fangtooth scooted over towards Katalyst and showed him how bunnies
hop. Mercury activated and threw some
flames in front of Spigot and Brisket to stop them from going in on
Katalyst. Harry responded with the same
but threw the flames on Vitriol and Mercury.
Only Mercury got burnt.
Midas
activated and gave Mist some love, taking away 6HP. Spigot sprinted up field for a central
position, avoiding the flames. Rookie
Venin, closest to the ball went and picked it up. Brisket used an F word for
not getting enough influence and walked over towards Fangtooth, popped the
legendary play, dodged him into melee with rookie venin and went for a route
one that hit. With only one INF left,
she tackled the ball from the rookie and dodged behind her big guy. Flask trundeled up field towards Brisket but
not getting there at all… Pride put up predatory gaze and that was that.
Turn 2 – I play Keep your chin up with only one MP – Lisa goes for the ‘Won’t touch the hair’ – as she’s up on MP she wins and activates first.
The game
continues with the movement it ended with…
No MP on the alchemists side Flask continues the movement he started and
moves towards Brisket engaging her. He
has no INF on him so I ignore that movement and don’t trigger unpredictable
movement. Not understanding why Vitriol
or Midas didn’t go in for the ball, I don’t go for the goal myself but opt to
use the bunny hopping machine again.
Flask, Rookie Venin and Midas are KD’d and then Fangers walks over to
Vitriol engaging her. The only two
models not KD’d on alchemist side are Mercury and Vitriol. I fully expect Vitriol to swing on Fangers,
and then charge into Brisket using her 2” melee to steal the ball away, but
no! She only pushes him a bit and dodges
around playing with him! She does use
the momentum to stand Midas back up again and that’s my cue not to waste any
more activations on delaying that goal.
Brisket charges the robot to activate With Aplomb, generates some more
momentum, healing Mist and then put the goal on the board scoring a double 5
screamer. The church put down the 5
points. After that the goal kick comes
in, alchemists scoop up the ball and on their last activation manage to
score. The Goalkick comes, v.Spigot
scoops up the ball after it lands and jumps over the obstruction, lands on the
other side and kicks it to Brisket, who gracefully changes the direction of the
ball and scores the snap shot!
The Goal
kick lands on Rookie Venin.
4-9 to the Church and turn 3 starts. I play Dig Deep (since 5 is the highest card I drafted) and see ‘Sell it to the Crowd’ on the other side. Alchemists go first again.
Rookie
venin makes the mistake of ending an advance within 6” of my lion, I make the
mistake of not acting upon it. R. Venin
swings twice on Harry, I counter on the first swing but only manage a push, dragging
him base to base. Venin dodges back out
and passes to Midas who (you guessed it) scores the snap shot. 8 – 9 for the
church. The goal kick lands on Katalyst
this time. V.Spigot charges him, and
wraps for 2 extra results, taking the momentous tackle push dodge and an extra
dodge on the wrap bringing him in melee with the robot that is still KD’d. He slams one on the robot doing 3 DMG and
scores the winning goal 8-13.
That’s it
folks
