Game 5 - Brewers VS Brewers – tournament rules in effect for Take a Breather lad
Game 5
Hello Guild Ballers,
Last week I had 2 quick games in succession of eachother, this is the
first.
I played my brewers and challenged the TO of ‘Take a Breather’ to come
and prep me for his tournament. Thank
you Dries Haemhouts for coming over and playing against me! I had a blast. Next time we’ll crack open the whiskey!!
I used this line-up as I wanted to give Stoker a chance:
Tapper – Scum – Stoker – Spigot – Friday – Stave
Dries’s line-up:
Esters – Scum – Mash – (Stoker – Spigot – Friday)
– Again I failed to take notes, I might even have this line-up wrong. Mainly because I waited too long to write up
this report AND because I was scared of Esters (or “the unknown” really).
Game summary:
I’m such a sad reporter… I can’t even remember who had to do the
kick-off. I do remember it was a victory
for the brewers! But we’ll get to that at the end of this summary. First turn I held all my guys back, to no
avail; Esters tossed fire and rough ground AOE on my guys. I did put some damage in as did he. Putting the game in a close 6-6. In the end I lined up for scoring with
spigot, or if needed I could slide in Friday first, setting her up for a snapshot,
but that would take another turn. Only
that damned timer… I was clocked out
giving him 6-7, I needed to win there and then but failed to see the fast
terrain that would get Spigot within scoring range. Had I activated Friday the turn before it
went to 6-7 sprinting past Esters for a snapshot (a play I also missed because
I was focusing on damage output at the time) things might have turned out
different. The game ended with my last
activation leaving me on 6VP and giving him the 8 needed for ending the game…
At least I lost my fear of Esters…
I think…
Where I improved my game:
Nowhere. I was distracted by the
new players on the enemy team and lost focus on my game plan. Looking for Bonus Timing (something I had to
look at doing) was not possible, all my momentum went to healing or removing
conditions, but I did keep an eye open for it…
What I need to remember :
Don’t forget your game plan, no matter what the opponent is doing. It’s better to play your game than to try and
stop something you don’t know where it’s going.
If your oppontent gets to play his plan unhindered you can better
analyse what happened and look for where to stop him next time, as to where you
might have hindered him a bit, or a lot without knowing what would’ve happened
in the end, therefore not knowing how to do it again…
Thoughts about my line-up:
Don’t take out Hooper against Esters.
You’ll need the true grit!
I’m not sure about bringing Stoker in for magical brew. This puts my
line-up in a weird Tapper – Scum – Hooper – Stoker – Stave – Friday team. I don’t know how I’ll manage without Spigot,
not putting the +1 DEF on Friday. I
would prefer Spigot over Stoker I guess…
Overall idea of the game:
It was a close game and I need to be more confident in my own abilities.
Play the brewers my own way and single out the targets one by one, don’t mind
the burning sensation it brings J
See you next time Guild Ballers!
