Game 25 - Tapper in a blood rain vs Fillet

Game 25 - Tapper in a blood rain vs Fillet For my next game I'm challenged by the local pundit (Robin) who is determined to stab Tapper an extra bumhole with Fillet and his butchers.   Robin is part of the wonderful club Thunderbolts Gent aswell.  He has played different teams but loves his butchers and there is some morticians-love sprouting, you can see it in his eyes if he talks about Obulus.  I accepted the challenge, what was I to do? The battle (or game if you will) took place at the lovely WEC venue. On the way there a song was playing on the radio by Kendrick Lamar, not that I'm a fan, but the lyrics were fitting to my thoughs : Click here for the song: Warning! Explicit language! Once there I greeted Robin and orderd my nerve-settling-drug (a Duvel, yes).  I didn't feel I had to prove anything so my nerves were under control.  I was curious to see Fillet on the board.  Of course I planned on studying her card beforehand, but life got in the way so I had only

Game 24 - Does Tapper get hammered or does Hammer get Tappered?

Game 24 - Tapper vs Hammer Finally we meet across the pich from each other. At long last my archenemy (or so I look at the Masons) is here for a friendly game of guild ball. The last man I need to face to see if I'm brewer worthy. I'm playing Wouter Raes, aka mr. Sideburns.  He's also one of the regulars from my gaming club Thunderbolts Gent .  He plays Masons and fate has decided this is the first time we exchange blows.  We were set to meet at 8 p.m. in the WEC , one of the venue our club uses.  The other being  Outpost G(h)ent.  I got there a little early and needed something for the nerves...  no prescription needed!  If you want to know my poison go visit the webpage of the brewery:  Duvel - Brewery Moortgat The table next to me: As I waited for my opponent I set up the brand new proving grounds play mat I bought, the bits and bobs (like counters and measuring widgets) and my models next to the table where our local pundit was playing a game of Butchers vs Hun

Game 23 - Tapper vs Obulus

Game 23 - Tapper vs Obulus This game is one long overdue.  Against one of the regulars from my gaming club Thunderbolts Gent , Phil.  He played morticians as the title may have already lead you on...  This was his entire line-up: Obulus - Dirge - Silence - Ghast - Graves - Mist.  Have a look at them ! (Yes, the goal token is the crusified 'batwoman'. My line-up kicked Spigot in favour of Avarisse & Greede: Tapper - Scum - Friday - Hooper - Stave - Avarisse & Greede. I figured, if he'll tell me who to use last or first I might aswell have an extra activation. The game: After winning the roll I opted to recieve.  The ball was kicked right in front of my line-up so I didn't even have to run up to get it.  I spent some time kicking it from player to player to generate momentum.  Tried to barrel lob silence into the (not loaded up to the teeth) Tappermachine.  Failed that so had to use a teamwork action to get tapper 4 up the field and hit for a mino

Game 22 - a demo to drag new players in.

Game 22 a demo game. I offered to play a demogame with an employee of the WEC who was looking to start playing guild ball.  Lieve took me up on the offer and as she had an interest in playing brewers I gave my Tapper in loan together with Friday and Hooper. I played veteran Rage with Fangtooth and Hemlocke. As she had no experience with miniature games I felt like I was overloading her with information.  I gave most of the explanation beforehand and as soon as we started playing it all started making sence.  Thus I added bits and bobs as we progressed.  Once she had taken out Fangtooth and missed a goal with Friday I stepped up my game just a bit to avoid her starting to think this game was easy...  I killed Friday and struggled to keep the ball for a bit but in the end managed to score a goal to win the game. Lieve told me she loved the game so far and was sure to play more games in the future.  I also asked if the explanation I gave was 'satisfactory' and a third part

Painting up a new team: Morticians - Scalpel Part I

Image
Hello Guild Ballers As you can find here I started up on painting a Morticians Team. This part of the blog will cover Scalpel. After Priming I took a hard look and was wondering where I could ad the yellow on her.  Browsing the Web made me look at the belts on her waist or the feathers attached to it.  I went for the feathers.  I might do the sleeve on one arm.  I'm not sure yet. This is how far I got so far with the little time on my hands till now. I'll come back to her first.  When time can be spent on my hobby again! Update: See you next time! Greetings Bob.

Painting up a new team: Morticians - BoneSaw Part I and way of the brush love

Hello Guild Ballers! As I'm looking to get more guilds on the table under my command I have been looking around to what team should be the first to moan under the weight of me...  I have two eyes and so each eye started looking at a certain team making me crosseyed and leaving me puzzled.  Those two teams are The Masons and the Morticians.  Since I'm a slow painter I bought a Masons team second hand a while back.  Read up on that here. The other team, the morticians, only caught my eye after the spoiling of Scalpel.  I loved how the model looked and somehow the card appealed to me.  I placed an order in my local games store and as the team didn't come in straight away started looking for ideas on how to paint them.  I came up empty handed until a local posted on the forums of my gaming club (warning: DUTCH). This is what she linked me to:  monochrome morticians. I liked the theme so much I decided to borrow it.  Here are the steps I took my first model -Bonesaw- thro

Some more painting: Hemlocke, Decimate, Blackheart and Veteran Rage

Hello Guild Ballers! Today's post will show you some pictures of my (still uninproved and thus poor) painting skills. I had a tournament on saturday the 18th and since I was afraid of Smoke as captain of the Alchemist Guild, I wanted the option to put Hemlocke in my tournament 8. She didn't end up in my line-up since all she brings is Smelling salts, possibly a blind here and there and a sup-par playbook. Against Midas she'd bring an extra influence if I take Stave out, but I don't think I'll take him out against Smoke.  Yes; def  2 is asking for 'hit me hit me' but drawing Smoke closer to my beaters might work, unless my opponent knows what he's doing and jumps into conditions AOE's everey end of activation.  But I'll make a different post about picking my line-up. So don't let my musings here keep you away from the pictures: here they are! Hemlocke : As you can see I'm not the greatest of artists and my basing is sup-pa
